Ernie Ball
Ernie Ball started in 1962 as one of the United States' first ‘guitar only’ music stores. During the 1960s, with interest in guitar-based rock peaking, Ball noticed that students had trouble playing with the most popular brand of medium gauge strings at the time. Ball contacted a string manufacturer and started offering separate strings in lighter gauges to aide with bending. These “Slinky” configurations soon became popular, and Ball had a hit product on his hands.
Since those humble beginnings, Ernie Ball has grown to become one of the most trusted names in the music industry. Adding on to their traditional Slinky series, new lines specialising in strength and extended dynamic range (Paradigm and Cobalt) have added extra firepower to Ernie Ball’s arsenal. In addition to its high-quality strings, Ernie Ball offers a range of guitar accessories, including guitar cables, picks, and straps.
